Caley Crescent Home
The design explores planning themes to provide generous contemporary living on a relatively small suburban site. Entry to the home is under the cantilevered upper level into an expansive double height foyer with open timber stair. Up the stair reveals the expansive single level home. A large central living space with kitchen and scullery, dining space with expansive double glazed sliding doors lead to the sun drenched terrace.
The parents realm is accessed from the central living area across a suspended 'bridge' across the double height void. The master bedroom with dressing space and oversized ensuite is restful and private. The parents lounge/reading space leads to a front balcony to take advantage of the morning sun. The children's area is accessed through a concealed full height slider to provide a play space and leads to two children's bedrooms, main bathroom, guest bedroom with ensuite, laundry and access to the terrace.
Steven from Thursday Architecture took on the ultimate project, interpreting our design ideas from across the other side of the world while we lived in Turkey. Even over email, Steven’s passion and commitment to quality and achieving our dream home were always evident.
Steven worked hard to interpret our brief of something “modern, concrete, industrial and glass, with lots of light (and no curved walls)” and produced a magnificent home from design, build (through project management) to completion – including the scary moment we arrived from overseas to see our dream, interpreted into reality, for the very first time.
A few breaths were held for that very first glimpse but we could not be happier with the result of a well-planned, high-quality, modern, liveable home that reflects us and our lifestyle perfectly.
Matt and Nina.
